About the species

Identification

Slender wetland plant 10–50 cm tall. Stems rise from the base and may be smooth or softly hairy. Leaves grow in pairs without stalks; they are narrow like straps, edges smooth or finely toothed, often tinged brownish or reddish. Flowers hang in loose, thin-stalked clusters from the upper leaf joints. Each flower is 5–6 mm across with four small lobes, pale pink or pale blue. After flowering it forms a flat, rounded pod with a shallow notch. Told from brooklime and water-speedwell by its much narrower leaves and looser flower clusters. Flowers in Finland from June to August.
