Terms of Use
Effective from 1.11.2026.
1. The Service and the provider
These terms apply to the mobile app and its related servers and website (the "Service"). The Service appears in the app stores and on the phone under the name Kasvipassi or Florapass depending on the phone's language. It is the same service, and these terms apply under both names. In these terms, Florapass means the Service.
The provider is Matkala Studios (Business ID 3628345-2), Finland. Contact: info@florapass.app.
2. Age limit
Children under 13 may also use the Service, but with limited features: the device location, the public page and crash reports are not used (see "Children" in the privacy policy). We recommend that children under 13 use the Service under a guardian's supervision. Users under 18 may buy the paid Florapass Plus subscription only with their guardian's permission.
3. Account and nickname
- You sign in with your Google or Apple account or, in school use, with a code given by the school. An account is required to use the Service.
- Choose a nickname that does not reveal your real name. The nickname must not be offensive, misleading or a misuse of another person's name.
- Your account's security relies on your Google or Apple account. You are responsible for the use of your account.
4. Permitted use
Use the Service only in accordance with the law and these terms. You must not:
- try to break into the Service or disrupt its operation
- automatically collect the Service's content in bulk or copy its database
- use the Service in a way that infringes the rights of others
- save photos as find photos that you have no right to save, or photograph other people without their permission
- deliberately enter false finds to mislead others
5. Content and licences
- Your own finds (date, note, location and find photos) belong to you. You give the provider the right to store them and show them to you in the Service. If you turn on the public page, you give the right to show your finds (without photos) publicly too, as described in the privacy policy, until you close the page.
- Species data, texts, images and drawings are material produced by third parties or by the provider. The species texts have been compiled from the sources shown in the species details, such as the University of Helsinki's Pinkka learning environment (CC BY 4.0), the Finnish Biodiversity Information Facility and Wikipedia. The authors and licences of the images are shown in the species details. The images must not be used outside the Service against their licence terms.
- Map data: © OpenStreetMap contributors (open database, ODbL licence).
- The Service's software, look and name belong to the provider.
6. Florapass Plus subscription
- In the free version you can save finds of a limited number of different species, attach one photo to each find and use photo identification a limited number of times a month. The limits and the price of the Plus subscription are shown in the subscription view.
- The subscription is bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The price, billing period and taxes are shown at the time of purchase. Payment is charged to your store account. The provider does not process your payment card details.
- The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. Cancel it in the store's subscription settings before the current period ends. Cancelling prevents the next charge, and a period already paid for remains available to the end.
- Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy, so request them directly from Apple or Google. The consumer's mandatory statutory rights remain.
- A price change takes effect only once you have been notified of it under the store's rules.
- If the subscription ends, finds and photos already saved remain, but new finds and photos can be added only within the free version's limits.
- Deleting your account does not cancel the subscription. Cancel the subscription first in the store's subscription settings.
- A school pupil's Plus comes from the school's licence, and the pupil does not buy a subscription.
7. School use
A school can acquire a licence for its pupils. The licence terms are agreed with the school separately, and the pupils' data is processed under a data processing agreement with the school (see "School use" in the privacy policy). A pupil's account belongs to the school's licence: the pupil cannot delete their account, export their data or open a public page themselves; instead, the account and its data are deleted by the teacher, or 90 days after the licence has ended. Otherwise these terms also apply to school use.
8. Species data and moving in nature
- Species data, the results of photo identification and the identification bot, flowering times, toxicity labels, invasive species data and texts are indicative. No guarantee is given of their accuracy, and they must not be used for safety-critical decisions. Never eat or use a plant based on what the Service says about it. A missing toxicity label does not mean that a plant is harmless. If you suspect poisoning, call the Poison Information Centre (0800 147 111) or the emergency number 112.
- You move in nature at your own risk. Respect everyman's rights, landowners and the rules of nature reserves. Do not pick or damage protected plants, and photograph plants without trampling them.
- Follow the authorities' instructions when controlling invasive species (e.g. vieraslajit.fi).
9. Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time on the app's Account page. On deletion, your data and find photos are deleted as described in the privacy policy. In school use, the account is deleted by the teacher (see section 7).
- The provider may close an account or restrict use if you breach these terms. We will tell you why if possible.
10. Liability
- The Service is provided as is. We aim to keep it running, but we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.
- The provider is not liable for indirect damage. Liability is limited to at most the amount you have paid for the Service in the 12 months before the damage occurred.
- These limitations do not apply to the consumer's mandatory rights or to damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence.
11. Changes
The terms may be updated. Significant changes are announced in the app in advance. If you continue to use the Service after a change, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, you can stop using the Service and delete your account.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Finnish law. Consumers keep the mandatory consumer protection rules of their country of residence. Disputes are first sought to be settled by agreement. A consumer can also take a dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board.
13. Languages and contact
The terms have been drawn up in Finnish. If the translation and the Finnish version differ, the Finnish version prevails.
